Dirty Laundry
by Disha Bose

View in Library Catalog

This novel reads like a few episode arc of a Desperate Housewives tv show combined with a Real Housewives franchise. Everyone here can be guilty of the murder of a neighbor, which you know occurs during the first chapter. Who is really public enemy number one? The novel is easy to follow and read and hits that need to be a nosy juicy gossip lover.

One True Loves
by Taylor Jenkins Reid

This was a very quick read! It's about a woman who it totally in love with her husband and the life they have together. He disappears due to a helicopter crash. She restarts her life, going back home and meeting up with a former crush. They begin a new life together. Her husband turns up and she needs to choose which "love" to stay with. I couldn't stop reading to find out who she'd choose! I loved both of them for her.

Ms. Marshall writes a well researched deftly created narrative which takes place in Toronto circa 1960's.. It inter braids the stories of three women whose lives have been deeply affected by the struggle over women's reproductive rights in Canada which finally ended in 1988 with the groundbreaking decision to legalize abortion.

A Destiny Of Dragons
by TJ Klune

A fabulous sequel. It sets up a storyline for this and the next two books. Somehow, the author is able to blend the chaotic personalities and poignant, touching moments. And Sam’s moment of super powerful magic use was so cool! But of course, he does it to save those he loves. The narrator is also super talented, and I’m even more impressed after this book.

Berlin

Very stream of consciousness. There is no plot line like a regular novel, but it is easy to follow. I just didn't like the book.

Loyalty

A riviting tale of love and loyalty in Sicily, Italy. The novel took me on a journey through Italy and spun a tale of how the mafia was formed.

Memoirs Of A Geisha
by Arthur Golden

A true story as told by Japan’s most celebrated geisha. We enter a world where appearances are the most important thing. Competition amongst the geishas is very popular. A girls’ virginity is offered to the most powerful man. Love is just an illusion. The story follows a 9 year old beautiful child who is sold into slavery. We meet all the men she comes in contact with, including the one she falls in love with. We also read about the war, wherein the geishas became obsolete and the destruction of Japan. Very interesting reading.

All The Broken Places
by John Boyne

ALL THE BROKEN PLACES by John Boyne is a heartbreaking story with roots in the holocaust and its aftermath. It follows one of the characters in his well regarded earlier book (and movie) THE BOY IN THE STRIPPED PAJAMAS through the end of WWII up to present day. The main character, Gretel, the daughter of a concentration camp commandant, lives with her memories and guilt. We, the readers, struggles along with Gretel. The book was an engrossing story with many layers to work through. While I can't say it was a "pleasure" to read, I can definitely say that I'm glad that I read it ...

Eliza Starts A Rumor
by Jane L. Rosen

View in Library Catalog

Eliza has agoraphobia. Her children have gone off to college, and a major focus of her life is the local moms group that she runs on social media. She overhears some young mothers saying they prefer a new group, which discusses more "dirty" topics, such as what to do when your husband has erectile dysfunction. To keep her thread up-to-date, Eliza invents a post about an affair. People in the town think she is talking about them or their spouses, and it has far-reaching ramifications. Each chapter of this book focuses on one of 4 women and their various lives, which eventually come together.
