Same Time Next Summer
by Annabel Monaghan

Another great beach read from Annabel Monaghan! The book is set on Long Island which is always nice. Old loves, new loves. Love triangles. All the trials and tribulations of a summer romance. Not quite as good as "Nora Goes Off Script" but I enjoyed it.

The Island

I wound up reading this book and another by this same author at the same time, and it is a credit to the author that the two books were so different and I was able to enjoy both. This one is about a reporter who takes his young son and goes to investigate the unexplained disappearance of many boats near the Bermuda Triangle. But like the saying “Be careful what you wish for” , he discovers what is going on but only after a truly harrowing experience that almost costs him son. Very good book but very frightening at some points.

The Time Has Come

An enticing opening that is no indication of what is to come - Vignettes of different people - why are they connected and why am I reading about them with no definitive answers with some storied=s interesting - some not really - I wanted more especially with the ending - not because of what the ending was but because of what the ending wasn't, at least for me - the reader.

This is about several women being abused while working in a high finance book publishing firm. This is so common; recently many abused women have come forward bravely to complain about being sexually abused by higher ups in their place of work. There are threats of losing their Job if they do not comply with the wishes of their bosses, etc.

Boring characters, predictable plot lines that I didn't care about. Read it on the airplane but should have watch a movie.

The Escape Room
by Megan Goldin

It starts out with a scream and and gunshots. Four members of an elite financial firm are told to report to work for a special meeting. They're locked in an elevator and have to solve an escape room challenge. Lots of secrets and intrigue.

Harold

I was excited to see this first novel by my favorite comedian. The structure of this story supports the style of Wright (short weird stories and truths), but as a novel, it seems disjointed. The whole end of the book is weak. Oh well

STING
by Sandra Brown

STING is one of many books by Sandra Brown. They are all similar in so far as the overall form, but each has intricate plotting and enjoyable characters. Her books all have a main couple who travel from hate to love along a very rocky road. Mystery, intrigue, misdirection, and sex accompany the story. While somewhat predictable, her stories, including this one, are very pleasant company ...
