Where Are the Children?
by Mary Higgins Clark

View in Library Catalog

I read this book when it first came out and decided it was worth a revisit before I read the recently released sequel.  It still holds up and makes me realize why I was always on the watch for her next book.  I can't wait to start reading the sequel.

Hail Storme
by W. L. Ripley

View in Library Catalog

Wyatt Storme, a Vietnam vet and former professional football player, is bow hunting in Missouri and stumbles across a marijuana field and is shot at by a sniper and attacked by vicious dogs. He reports the incident to the local Sheriff, who is, conveniently, murdered the next day. Storme starts looking into the situation and uncovers more than he expected, organized crime, drugs, and corruption. He also makes himself someone whom powerful people want dead. A fast, easy read filled with exciting adventure, laced with fun.

Playing The Palace
by Paul Rudnick

Playing the Palace reads like a play - maybe because it was written by a playwright. I was never sure if I was reading a comedy, a dramady or a farce. It was a novel with a bizarre premise that should have been more interesting - it wasn't. I was disappointed.

When The Moon Is Low
by Nadia Hashimi

An extraordinary tale of love and survival. I myself don't think I'd ever had made it. The characters were real to me. The issues they had with travel from Kabul to London were unreal. Scary.

Mad Honey
by Jodi Picoult and Jennifer Finney Boylan

View in Library Catalog

MAD HONEY is a very well told story told in a very unusual way. The book is written in two voices, by two different authors. The story goes both from the past to the present and from the present to the past. The story, taking place in current day New England, deals with family, love, violence, secrets, sex, and sexuality. It is an absorbing read and great for discussion. I loved it!

The House Of Wolves
by James Patterson

I enjoyed the The House of Wolves by Mike Lupica and James Paterson and as always when James Patterson writes with another more prolific writer his writing is elevated (not enough here)-- I enjoyed the plot - it made sense - clear characters -- just enough plot twists and as characters were added it added to the narrative - This is a neat compact formula book where a half page is a chapter which is why it got 4 stars - 5 stars only goes to better writing. Paterson fans - you will enjoy.

House of Wolves

I really enjoyed the second book in this duology. It is focused on Citali, who redeems herself and becomes powerful enough to fight the gods. I love a good redemption story.
