Dark Encounters of the Close Kind
by I. T. Lucas

We finally have information and are able to speculate about what happened with the gods and Kra-ell back on the home planet. But, of course, no definitive answers. We may get them soon though! Gabi has been seeing Uriel, who is definitely either a god or one of their descendants, though he’s been able to keep his identity from her. At the same time, Annani’s clan has been dealing with three tracker signals that have come online and gotten closer to their home in LA. For the most part, they’ve been assuming it’s a threat, but perhaps it is a peaceful way whoever these mysterious men are want to initiate a parlay? I definitely think they want to make peaceful contact with Annani’s clan, and Uriel is gonna be one of them (of course). I can’t wait to find out who they are and what they’re doing here! Also, since Gabi is a Dormant and she has been having sex with Uriel, I think she’s going to transition and not know what’s happening to her. That’s how the clan is going to make the connection to Uriel and their three mystery people. This series is great if you like being able to speculate and guess and theorize what is going to happen and how things are connected!

The Enchanted Hacienda
by J.C. Cervantes

I absolutely loved this beautilly written novel about the magical House of Flowers and Light in Mexico. Reminded me in some ways of the movie Encanto, also a story of family and magic. Harlow Estrada discovers her own magic within and experiences acute heartbreak and difficult choices. Filled with memorable characters, especially the members of the Estrada family and Harlow's love, Ben. I read the last few chapters very slowly, because I didn't want it to end.

Sometimes I Lie
by Alice Feeney

Amber has been in a terrible accident and is in a coma. She can still hear what's happening around her but cannot communicate. Her thoughts keep going back to her childhood and her family while alternating with trying to figure out how she ended up in the hospital. I usually love Ms. Feeney's psychological thrillers, but this one left me cold.

Cutting For Stone

Book Reviews Cutting For Stone by Abraham Verghese After going through a very rough delivery, Marion and Shiva Stone’s mother died in childbirth. Too hurt to acknowledge the loss, their father abandons them in Ethiopia. Their love for medicine had them following in their father’s footsteps and experiencing many medical miracles and heartbreaks along the way.

The Only One Left
by Riley Sager

This book was spectacular. I've read a lot of Sager's stuff and this is the his best in a while. The book was part predictable and part unpredictable. There were new elements that made it less like his other stuff that were better for the enjoyment of the story. The ending had elements you could expect but didn't ruin their eventual reveal. It always made you satisfied and connected to the stories of the characters. Highly reccomend. Would read it again.

Simply Lies
by David Baldacci

Simply Lies was really not that exciting and after a while it seems life the story line was forced - Mr. Baldacci was trying to hard to create interesting characters - that weren't and not enough suspense.
