Grand View
by Steven Jay Griffel

View in Library Catalog

I just loved this coming of age in the 60's story. It takes place during the summer at a bungalow colony. I spent my summers at bungalow colonies too so I could definitely relate. Grand View is book 3 out of 5 in Griffel's David Grossman series, David being the main character. If you've spent any time at a bungalow when you were growing up, you'll love this book too. I think it's only available for Kindle.

The Housemaid
by Freida Mcfadden

View in Library Catalog

A young ex-con , Millie, is hired as a housemaid for a family that appears to have it all. From the outset Nina and her daughter Cece act strangely as Millie takes the brunt of it. Of course falling for Andrew, the handsome husband is only a matter of time as he is painted as he victimized spouse. However things are not as they seem as this novel takes a few twists. A fast read but not a very original plot.

High stakes

This is about several women being abused while working in a high finance book publishing firm. This is so common; recently many abused women have come forward bravely to complain about being sexually abused by higher ups in their place of work. There are threats of losing their Job if they do not comply with the wishes of their bosses, etc.

We Are The Brennans
by Tracey Lange

A close, intimate look at the inner workings of a very involved Irish family. We see how a single night can affect an entire family and changes the path of individual member's future. It is fascinating to see how mistakes made can change the lives of an entire family, not just the people directly involved.

Mother Of Death And Dawn

This was definitely an emotional roller coaster of a book, but it was so worth it. Max and Tisannah deserve their hard-won happily ever after.

Looking for Jane
by Heather Marshall

This story made me wish I had been born earlier and also had been able to be a part of the Jane network to help those women who needed it. Jane - the request made by young women looking to have an abortion said this name to doctors and others, looking for the right person to help. The three main women are Angela, Evelyn and Nancy. Their stories are indescribable, sad, happy and uplifting. I am enraged that from before then to the present women still do not have full control of their bodies. I gained much knowledge of the underground abortion system. A most excellent historical fictiobn read.

The Celebrants
by Steven Rowley

Steven Rowley books are like a warm hug! "Thousands of candles can be lit by a single one, and the life of that candle will not be shorten. "When a group of college friends experience the loss of one of their own, they make a pact to have living funerals and not wait until it's too late to hear what they mean to each other."

On Fire Island
by Jane L. Rosen

I didn't love it but I liked it. I continued reading On Fire Island because I plan on attending the end of the summer party and Ms. Rosen is the gust author. . I think the reason I didn't love the story was that the main character is the same age as my daughter. This is not a happy-go-lucky story. I found it to be quite sad at times, but there times I laughed as well. This is definitely a fast, summer read book.

A Flicker In The Dark
by Stacy Willingham

This book had an interesting premise. Chloe is a psychologist. Twenty years ago, her father was convicted of killing several teenage girls. This seems to be happening again. The ending was a bit too predictable for my taste, but I did enjoy the book.
