Looking for Jane
by Heather Marshall

View in Library Catalog

This story made me wish I had been born earlier and also had been able to be a part of the Jane network to help those women who needed it. Jane - the request made by young women looking to have an abortion said this name to doctors and others, looking for the right person to help. The three main women are Angela, Evelyn and Nancy. Their stories are indescribable, sad, happy and uplifting. I am enraged that from before then to the present women still do not have full control of their bodies. I gained much knowledge of the underground abortion system. A most excellent historical fictiobn read.

This was such a good ending to this story! It was so fun to see events from Air Awakens from a different perspective. I’m glad Vi and Tavyn got their HEA as well. They deserved it.

The Life We Bury
by Allen Eskens

I think I picked this up for free at a library right after COVID or at a yard sale. Interesting fun. Joe Talbert is on deadline to complete a college English assignment to interview a stranger. He chooses Carl Iverson, a convicted murderer, Vietnam Vet, living out his sentence in a nursing home because he’s dying of cancer. With the help of his neighbor who at first wouldn’t friend him, but friends his autistic brother, Jeremy, Joe & Lila discover the true murderer and it’s not Carl. Lila & Joe are awarded $100,000 and it may be more if the true killer is convicted of more murders. A fee- good book.

Chandler's plan to become a journalist hasn't worked out as she wanted, and she's now unhappily ghostwriting for celebrities. She gets an offer to ghostwrite for one of the stars of a very famous teen drama that she has never seen, only to find that the star is the man with whom she had a very recent and disappointing one-night stand! Travel with Chandler and Finn around the country as they visit fan conventions, write Finn's book and learn about love (and sex) together.

Simply Lies
by David Baldacci

Simply Lies was really not that exciting and after a while it seems life the story line was forced - Mr. Baldacci was trying to hard to create interesting characters - that weren't and not enough suspense.

The Pigeon
by David Gordon

The Pigeon - allow me to get the awful puns out of the way - This book is not for the birds, You don't have to be coo coo to read this book, You don't have to worry about anything dropping on you, ENOUGH. The Pigeon is the silent catalyst of a fast paced adventure of Joe the bouncer and adventure seeking sort of Indiana Jones without the snakes. While I didn't have a vested interest in the pigeon (sorry pigeon) I did enjoy the quick summer read.

Stolen Tongues
by Felix Blackwell

I did not know what to expect from this book because my friend purchased it, read about a third of it and gave it to me saying good luck because it scared her. I would say this is a solid horror story. Felix and Faye travel to Colorado to celebrate their engagement at Faye’s family cabin. An ancient Native American entity takes interest in Faye because she holds a family secret so deep that even he cannot coax it out of her dreams. The more the entity whispers to Faye, the more Faye and Felix must try to escape its grip. Seeking the help of Native Americans and the truths revealed by Faye’s family, Faye learns what she needs to do. Definitely not a book to read while you are alone at night while staying at a cabin in the woods.

A great beach read set right here on Long Island! Back and forth between the past and the present, it is a story of first love, summer living, major life decisions and their consequences, family and fun. I highly recommend it.

This was a really sweet cozy fantasy romance! I loved Viv’s journey in settling down, making a new life, and slowly gaining her found family,
