The Princess And The Grilled Cheese Sandwich (a Graphic Novel)
by Deya Muniz

So cute! Illustrations were easy on the eyes and the story was super easy to follow and enjoyable. I loved the description in the back that the author and her wife have an actual “history” with grilled cheeses. Great message of finding your own happiness and fighting the status quo along the way.

Nine years ago Vivienne and her cousin Gwyn pretended to put a hex on Vivi’s newly ex boyfriend Rhys. The townspeople of graves Glen , Georgia are having their annual fall fair and Rhys is tasked with the job of returning to his college town to strengthen the lay lines that his ancestors placed years ago. Upon his return, Rhys is plagued with mishaps. As it turns out, Vivi is a stronger witch than she realizes and the hex that was placed long ago was real. Can Rhys survive the hex, save the town and win Vivi’s heart? I enjoyed this book. It was a fun read.

The Book Woman's Daughter
by Kim Michele Richardson

Just loved this sequel to The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek which I read way back in 2019. Also read her other book The Liars' Bench. It always amazes me how an author can take one story and add characters and plots the second time, sometimes more. Here we have Honey, the daughter, who is now alone because her parents are in jail because her mother is a "blue" and her father is "white", miscegenation laws being alive and well in Kentucky at the time. But an adult friend takes her in with her parents' permission. There are those who hate the blues like some whites hate blacks, with no reason of course. Something happens and Honey is once again alone and at the mercy of the law who want to put her away in a "reform" school. Our Honey is a trailblazer like her mother before her and takes us on her journey to being able to care for herself until she can be reunited with her family. Touching, uplifting to the utmost.

Everyone appears on edge, and it seems that Jed and his family are preventing Jacey from returning home to see her doctor.

The Life We Bury
by Allen Eskens

I think I picked this up for free at a library right after COVID or at a yard sale. Interesting fun. Joe Talbert is on deadline to complete a college English assignment to interview a stranger. He chooses Carl Iverson, a convicted murderer, Vietnam Vet, living out his sentence in a nursing home because he’s dying of cancer. With the help of his neighbor who at first wouldn’t friend him, but friends his autistic brother, Jeremy, Joe & Lila discover the true murderer and it’s not Carl. Lila & Joe are awarded $100,000 and it may be more if the true killer is convicted of more murders. A fee- good book.

On Fire Island
by Jane L. Rosen

I have mixed feelings about this book. The narrator is Julia who has just died way too young. Yes, the narrator is deceased and she is intent on watching over her grieving husband Ben until she knows he'll be okay. Ben escapes to their Fire Island home hoping to avoid people but as you know things don't always turn out as expected. The book is written with humor as you find out their story and the stories of those around them.

The Therapist

This thriller was about a couple who move to a gated community called "The Circle". It's wonderful until Alice discovers a secret about the previous owners. She becomes obsessed with finding out the truth. I enjoyed this book for the most part, as it kept my attention and I wanted to find out the ending. I was disappointed with how things came together, it was very far-fetched.

This is a fun story for anyone who likes fairytale retellings with a twist. The FMC was hysterical, and I enjoyed her chaos. Can’t wait for book 2!
