A Death At The Party
by Amy Stuart

When I was first reading this book, I disliked it. Way too many characters introduced at once, but like a good author does, as a reader it makes me suspect everyone and anyone who is dead. You already know at the beginning who the killer is and as the story progressed you get more and more suspicious of who is dead and why.

Go As A River

"At a certain point you say to the woods, to the sea, to the mountains to the world, Now I am ready." This beautifully written debut novel tells to story of Victoria Nash who, after the death of her mother, lives with her father, brother and crippled uncle on a peach farm in Colorado until one day, when a chance meeting with a stranger changes the course of her life. The river is such a beautiful metaphor for the changes that come to Victoria and the real-life town of Iola, which was part of government's reclamation act as part of building the Blue Mesa Dam. Spanning 20+ years, the author thoughtfully reveals the Victoria's life story Like a river, Victoria faces many obstacles and must carry many pieces with her along the way. This novel is sure to be one of my favorite books of the year!

If We're Being Honest

An easy breezy summer read about a big family in a small town. It starts with a funeral and ends with a wedding all within a week. The characters are funny and relatable, but the plot is VERY predictable.

We Are The Brennans

A close, intimate look at the inner workings of a very involved Irish family. We see how a single night can affect an entire family and changes the path of individual member's future. It is fascinating to see how mistakes made can change the lives of an entire family, not just the people directly involved.

Crazy To Leave You

Initially, I thought this was a light read about a scorned woman but as I read on, I realized that it was more of a story of self-understanding, as the protagonist Lauren had to rebound from a surprising/embarrassing situation. In general, the story was funny and I could relate to many of Lauren's thoughts. It was interesting the way that her family/mother had influenced her development as a woman/person and the strength required to become her own person. I did enjoy the book and do recommend it.

Dreams of Silver
by Mina Baites

This historical novel is the sequel to The Silver Music Box and continues the story of the two sisters who were separated in England after being rescued from Nazi Germany by the Kindertransport. It is a moving, poignant story that takes us from London, to Capetown, South Africa, and to Dublin, Ireland. Memorable characters and story; couldn't put it down!

Anxious People

Enjoyed this book once I was able to figure out who all the characters were; it was confusing initially, but very satisfying.

Verity

I read this book in three days. It caught my attention from the first chapter. Lowel Ashleigh is an author who is contracted to co-write the last three books in a series by renowned author Verity Crawford. Verity is supposed to be injured from a car accident. Low takes the job intrigued by Jeremy, Verity’s husband and the large advance she will receive. As the story unfolds you do not know what is the truth or not. Is Verity the monster who could put herself ahead of her children or is Jeremy the one that is untrustworthy? This was a very fast past read and I recommend it.
