Verity
by Colleen Hoover

View in Library Catalog

I read this book in three days. It caught my attention from the first chapter. Lowel Ashleigh is an author who is contracted to co-write the last three books in a series by renowned author Verity Crawford. Verity is supposed to be injured from a car accident. Low takes the job intrigued by Jeremy, Verity’s husband and the large advance she will receive. As the story unfolds you do not know what is the truth or not. Is Verity the monster who could put herself ahead of her children or is Jeremy the one that is untrustworthy? This was a very fast past read and I recommend it.

This was a wonderful book. Tess a young woman living in Baltimore in 1944 is studying to be a nurse. She is engaged to Vincent is a doctor. He goes to Chicago to work in a hospital, and while he is away she and her friend go to Washington, DC for a few days. While there they meet 2 young men who they have dinner with. Tess has too much to drink, and ends up sleeping with one of the men. A few months later she realizes she is pregnant and since he was the only man she has relations with is very upset. Afraid to tell her fiancee, she goes to North Caroline to see Henry and ask for financial help for the baby. He suggests an abortion, but she has decided against that. He offers to marry her, and though they have no feelings for each other she agrees. This was a real page turner.

Shadow of Death

This book was one Heather Granham’s stand alone novels, not the Krewe of Hunters series. Amy and Hunter are special agents ( Florida PD and FBI respectively) and on the case of solving the 4 Horsemen of the Apocalypse killers. The more they investigate these murders, the more they discover that this a a cult trying to “cleanse”the sinners of their sin so that they can join in on the rapture during the end times. In the end the Third Horseman is stopped but will the Fourth Horseman surface? All in all a good read. I prefer her Krewe of Hunters series and I did notice a lot of use of the word murmur throughout.

The ending of this book had me shook! Things are really starting to make sense, and I am so curious how it’s gonna end.

Witness
by Jamel Brinkley

A 5 Star plus book - these were more than short stories - they were "vignettes" about everyday people that came alive, and I, in my opinion, was the witness to these people written with more than just words - it was poetry in motion, no fancy words, just beautiful prose - many of the stories touched my heart, touched personal memories and left me wanting more from this brilliant writer, Jamel Brinkley.

The adults who were the original abducted children are featured in this follow up. It was a fast read, with a good mystery. I’m glad that I read both of these books.

A Lady's Guide To Scandal
by Sophie Irwin

Every now and again I just want to read a good old-fashioned Regency romance. A LADY'S GUIDE TO SCANDAL by Sophie Irwin was just such a book. Irwin, a new voice in the Regency romance genre, approaches marriage, love, and courtship in the 19th century with a fresh eye and modern thoughts. Lady Eliza Somerset, forced to marry at a young age, is widowed at the ripe old age of 27, and faces her future with uncertainty. As luck (and romance writers everywhere) would have it, her first love is once again on the horizon. Can happily ever after be far behind? Read A LADY'S GUIDE TO SCANDAL and find out.

This is such a sweet and cozy omegaverse romance. It’s just a lovely story with lots of spice, and two people finding love when they least expected it. I really enjoy learning the different habits and needs for each animal shifter type. Definitely a five-star read for me!
