The Escape Room
by Megan Goldin

View in Library Catalog

I really enjoyed this book, and am sorry I couldn't attend the book discussion about it. Half of the chapters are written in the first person by a woman who we learn early on has died. The other half take place in an elevator which has become an escape room of sorts. The book is about a team of people who work (or worked) in a top firm in the very high pressure financial industry. They all have secrets and reasons to dislike each other, and as the group is stuck in a hot elevator together, the pressure mounts. This book really held my attention, and I highly recommend it.

The Good Guy
by Dean Koontz

Good mystery and had to continue reading to see who the bad guys were but too goorey for me. It is ok if you are a fan of Dean Koontz. Good characters and surprising on how true the ending was that possibly could happen in real life.

The Guinevere Deception

I really enjoyed this Arthurian retelling and that it was focused on Guinevere as the main character. I liked the authors take and her twist on the character, and the ending has me really looking forward to book 2!

Killers Of The Flower Moon

This piece of American history, I never heard about, nor read about in any history books. It’s a remarkable little known era in the first few decades of the American 20th century that both was amazing and shocking. This books reads like a mystery novel but is so well documented and beautifully written that it’s hard to put down. The story is really two stories in the book, the saga of the Osage nation mistreatment and the evolution of the FBI. It’s the true story about the reign of terror of the Osage Indian Tribe written by a journalist. A part of American History that everyone should know about.

Mad Honey
by Jodi Picoult and Jennifer Finney Boylan

MAD HONEY is a very well told story told in a very unusual way. The book is written in two voices, by two different authors. The story goes both from the past to the present and from the present to the past. The story, taking place in current day New England, deals with family, love, violence, secrets, sex, and sexuality. It is an absorbing read and great for discussion. I loved it!

Wyatt Storme, a Vietnam vet and former professional football player, is bow hunting in Missouri and stumbles across a marijuana field and is shot at by a sniper and attacked by vicious dogs. He reports the incident to the local Sheriff, who is, conveniently, murdered the next day. Storme starts looking into the situation and uncovers more than he expected, organized crime, drugs, and corruption. He also makes himself someone whom powerful people want dead. A fast, easy read filled with exciting adventure, laced with fun.
