Hello Beautiful
by Ann Napolitano

View in Library Catalog

HelloEautiful follows the lives of four sisters, their relationships with each other, their parents, and others. It is beautifully told in this homage to Little Women. The characters are each likeable in their own way.nnthe surprise to me was when “Hello Beautiful “ was first spoken. I often look for the time in the boo when the title is reaveaed. The book was totally enjoyable.

Murder Your Employer
by Rupert Holmes

I borrowed this audiobook based on the humorous title and the fact that Neil Patrick Harris narrates half of it without any knowledge of the plot. It started a bit slow, but it hooked me soon enough. There are 3 main characters going to a secret university to learn how to murder their various bosses for various reasons, and the book is somehow both very funny and morally poignant. Both NPH and Simon Vance, the other narrator, do a fantastic job (audiobook readers really make or break a book experience) and it was a really entertaining read!

Looking for Jane
by Heather Marshall

This story made me wish I had been born earlier and also had been able to be a part of the Jane network to help those women who needed it. Jane - the request made by young women looking to have an abortion said this name to doctors and others, looking for the right person to help. The three main women are Angela, Evelyn and Nancy. Their stories are indescribable, sad, happy and uplifting. I am enraged that from before then to the present women still do not have full control of their bodies. I gained much knowledge of the underground abortion system. A most excellent historical fictiobn read.

The Peculiar Life Of A Lonely Postman
by Denis Thériault

After reading this book, I wondered how often similar happenings occur around the world. This story revolves around a young postman, quite lonely. To assuage his lonliness, he takes letter to his home, reads them and delivers them the following day. Through this habit, he becomes enamored of a Guatamalan woman who exchanges haiku poetry with a man on his route. Some great poetry, but sad.

The Lightning-struck Heart

This was such a fun, hysterical, and heartwarming story. There was not a chapter where I wasn’t laughing out loud at the ridiculous things the characters said. The audiobook narration was also really well done and added so much to the story.

Interesting story, reminiscent of Rear Window. Being bedbound with a high-risk pregnancy, and with not much to do our main character spends much of her time looking out the window. She notices a woman in a green raincoat walking her dog in the park every day, until one day she sees the dog running off alone. The woman in the green raincoat never returns. Imagination working overtime she begins her own investigation into what happened to the girl in the green raincoat. Fun read.

I enjoyed this YA fantasy romance with Egyptian mythology. There were some good reveals and a satisfying ending.
